Not only does Top Dog Pest Control offer you their expertise in London wasp control and nest removal, they can also offer you handy tips of how to control the pain when a wasp attacks.

Wasp Stings and How to Treat Them

Wasps actually administer a lot less venom than bees do. A bee sting will pump around 50 micrograms of venom into you, while a wasp will only administer 2-15 micrograms. However, wasps can sting multiple times due to their smooth sting, so you can quickly find yourself injected with a burning amount of venom.

How to treat the pain? Here’s a list of remedies to try, the majority of which you’ll find in your kitchen cupboard!

Ice
Applying ice for 20 minutes following a wasp sting can numb the pain and help reduce swelling by slowing down the blood flow to the sting site.

Garlic
The juice from garlic eliminates the pain from a wasp sting. Crush a clove and apply the juices directly to where you have been stung. Cover with a plaster and enjoy the relief!

Baking Soda or Salt Paste
Making a thick paste with either baking soda or salt and a little water can neutralise the sting of a wasp.

Lemon Juice or Vinegar
Both lemon juice and vinegar are excellent for offering speedy relief. Real lemons or apple cider vinegar are preferable, but any form will do!

Cucumber
Cucumber is wonderfully cooling and acts as an astringent, which constricts body tissues, limiting how far the venom from a wasp sting goes.

Witch Hazel
A cure-all wonder, Witch Hazel has anti-inflammatory and astringent properties, which will cool the sting and help with pain and swelling.

Aloe-Vera
If you happen to have an aloe-vera plant at home, squeeze out some of its natural anti-inflammatory gel and let it work its soothing powers!
